Power BI Pro Tip

by Acclario’s Data Expert Andy Lee

Date: 05 June, 2020

As a Power BI Report Author, it’s hard to design a report or visual which satisfies all Report Consumers in Power BI Service.  Power BI have released the ‘Personalized this visual’ feature in the May 2020 update.  This allows the Report Consumer to customise the published visual in Power BI Service, and save it as a default using a Bookmark.

  1.  Ensure the Report Author have installed the latest May 2020 release of Power BI Desktop
  2.  Have Personalization enabled in Power BI Desktop > File > Options and Settings > Options > Preview features
  3.  Have Personalization enabled in Power BI Desktop > File > Options and Settings > Options > Report settings
  4.  Re-publish the report to the Workspace
Report Consumers can now Personalise visuals on their reports in Power BI Service for ad-hoc analysis, without having to give a copy of the Power BI file or create different versions of the report with different visuals!
